Lottery

Post by Biggs »

Simple question I have a lottery planned, its a simple idea yet will be great fun for all you gamblers.

- Chose 4 numbers, write them in a book.
- Place said book in a bag with the entry price.
- Place the bag into a secure container at lottery HQ
- Await lottery draw on forums [every friday night]
- Maximum of five tickets per account [1 per character]

Question is with a player base around 40-50 how much should the ticket cost?

Vote.

I would say, several prices, but each (for example) 1k raised you can write down more numbers keys, increasing the chance to win. with a min and max ofc

10,000 should be the number if you get to use 5 per account.

And the lottery winnings is the gold put into the pot?

so the house never wins?what kind of lottery is this? :D

i would say it would depend on the percentage of the tickets bought that would go to the winner, but then if 100% is for the winner, then it's a question of the more you risk the more you get

I'd go for 5'000 per char which would make 25'000 per account. So the pot will be big enough.

Then to matter of winning... how about if we add an extra number and the share would look like this.

so there would be 4 + 1 numbers and sharing would go this way, since you can only choose 4 numbers.

4 numbers = 75% of the pot shared for the winners equaly
3 + 1 numbers = 24% of the pot shared for the winners equaly

and 1% for upkeep and lottery keeper couldnt join in the lottery?

Imo that would be working system and the lottery holder wouldnt be tempted to cheat.

i didn't even thought about cheating possibilities lol...
the % that goes to the house (lottery keeper) needs to be a lot more than 1% to prevent cheating.
OR
the lottery draw must be done IG and everyone that bought a ticket must be free to attend. otherwise, cheating can happen easily. just talk to your friend, put same numbers, he gets money, you guys share money in the end. easier than taking candy from a baby

I guess the lottery drawing could be done in some way with either coin tossing or with dice.

I was thinking dices, and public... but that doesnt realy works since two dices have a larger chance to average of 12 to appear than any of the peak numbers... so we would need one dice throw.

Also i think 1% is more than enough if he keeps holding it, 40x25k = 1mill making 1% being 10k already so it will easily build up money depending how many partakers there are.
