Road to Britain

Post by aldath c'om »

Vince D'Argon, born and raised in the savage streets of Serpent's Hold, was an orphan, illiterate, soon got used to the living in the dark and underground environment, typical of the streets of that filthy town. Due to poverty and needs, he developed and mastered the art of snooping and stealing, allowing him to get food, cloths, and some money here and there. Although he had this wrong behavior, he wasn't a bad person, in fact, most of times he was balanced and fair, helpful of the others in need like him, but in the end, he was a thief in the widest sense of the word.

Jerome was born and raised in Serpent's Hold, but unlike Vince, was rich and lived in a castle. His family, high ranks in Tekstone, made him to have the best personal teachers, making him a very educated knight, taught since born to represent his family in the elite of Tekstone Knighthood. He always was protected from the town's problems, probably because no one wanted problems with the cult. Although he was raised within evil people, he wasn't a bad person, most of times he was balanced and fair, helpfull to his next, but in the end, he was taking a dark path.

Vince was begging at inn's door, and targeting potential victims for robbery, when suddenly, a knight approaches, wearing shiny armors and exposing jewels that looked very valuable, dropped a bag with some gold coins, and headed inside inn for a meal. Vince rubbed his hands in joy. That softhearted just looked like a good victim, even if the knight was kind, Vince's needs were a higher motivation.

Jerome was taking a fast meal at Serpent's Hold before an important meeting with a Tekstone leaders, he was getting ready to be an holy knight, to serve the religion and help the world he knew, the world of thieves and bandits, to be a better place. Suddenly he noticed someone snooping in his backpack which was by the table borders. He grabbed the thief’s hand against the table and sticked his dagger right through from the middle of his hand. For the first time in his life, Vince was caught of stealing. The knight wasn't easy to fool. After getting a dagger sticked in his hand, Jerome took him down with one hit of his maul. The next thing Vince remembered was how he woke up in a white marble room, dressed only with some rags and bandages around his wounded hand.

Jerome was more than used to use his sword, only his good will and morals prevented him to execute this filthy thief. Tekstone gave Jerome a full authority to judge and punish the thief at his own way, but he wasn't a murderer. Instead of it he decided to test Vince. There was a table inside the marble room with three weapons, a scepter, a spear and a repeating crossbow. Vince was inside alone. Suddenly a walltrap got opened and a savage ridgeback entered and attacked on Vince. Instinctively, he grabbed the crossbow and shot the first bolt right in the middle of ridgeback’s head, killing it instantly. Some minutes later, Jerome entered through the same trap door and clapped:

"Nice job thief, you revealed that you have superior survivability skills and you’re very skillful with a bow. I'll give you two choices: One, you keep that crossbow with you, learn more some scholar matters to become better with the bows under our religion surveillance or TWO, you die suffering a pain ten thousand times worse than the stab I gave you in the Inn at Serpents."

After hearing both offers, Vince knew he didn't have great chances to escape, but in the other hand, this could be an escape from his criminal and running up life he was helding until the moment. He decided to follow the ranger’s path instead of thievery, learn both the bow and the tome teachings, and got converted into an holy warrior.

Some years have passed, both Jerome and Vince became good fighters in the name of Dennac, and kept their work of saving the world from tyranny and opressors like Nature. Although they never raised one weapon against innocent during their affairs but they were present in some battles. For some years they watched their elders to torture people, spreading deceases, everything with joy and with a feeling they were doing the right thing. Both Vince and Jerome’s truly nature wasn't like that, even if they came from the darkest paths, they learned to be balanced and fair, that wasn't what they were getting in Tekstone. They started to realize how bad it is to take all those actions with unruffled calm.

Vince and Jerome started to meet for some hunts, and took those moments to talk about their problems of faith. They both realized they weren't in the right place. Even if all their life was surrounded by those evil persons, they simply didn't agree with such actions. Helping the world to be a better place wasn't the way Dennac or their elders wanted them to do. During one of those hunts, they made their decision of leaving the Cult, their past, and their so called home. They decided to seek guidance from other places. By boat they reached the shores of Britain, guards already noticed them through the watch towers, and officers of Law were waiting for them…
