Reporting for duty

Post by Akkarrin »

He had slept for many years, the last battle with Telbora had left him gravely injured, or was it Tekstone? Too many battles, too many scars, next to Elya he was the eldest of the order. The life expectancy of officers had been short when he join, many died and many more turned when all seemed lost. There were worse ways to go, Akkarrin felt that he had more than beaten the odds.

Miraculously though he awoke, on his own in Britains main inn, but something was wrong.

His mind was groggy he remembered names but struggled to remember who's side they were on. I was second in command, who was in charge? must have been Zarek, or was he still a recruit? Iva! Iva Whitewolf! yes she was in charge I'm certain of it.... oh wait she died... with Geryn... and Alexis and Viscus... no hang on thats wrong Geryn turned to Tekstone and Viscus retired to his cottage he smiled. or was that the other way round?

It did not matter, he swore he would fight to his dying breath, it did not matter who with or even if it had to be by himself. Britain would always need defenders and he would always be there for the people. He travelled to the castle, an old and probably forgotten priest to proudly submit himself for service once again.

Had the order fallen? he moved to the court room and sat in the chair where he had once held trials. He pondered, maybe they moved back to Trinsic, the order can't be gone its not possible. His mind jogged, he still had one last all mighty gift. As the oldest priest he had been granted the greatest treasure the order could bestow. He never kept it on his person, it was too sacred to touch. The first tome of the Order of Law, after the great fire had destroyed everything in Britan Winchester bestowed upon the order a single tome, from it all other tomes were created it was the original source of the orders power. One of the greatest artifacts in all the lands, and he had kept it in the safest place he knew.

There must be some mistake, his heart cried out, I have lost the greatest treasure of our order. All of our history, our rites, our ability to protect gone... along with all of my gold, weapons, and armour... No money and no ability to hunt.... what could he do now...

As he farmed the cotton he realised how far he had fallen, he found some friendly passers by who informed him of the death of all religions. The priests had left the lands till their gods returned and now Akkarrin must do the same, without rites or his god to call upon Akkarrin was not to proud to admit he was useless. He could no better defend the city than a cow could... He would have to withdraw.

His elder brother Arnold however, a former drunken knight of the order. Had retired after discovering he was allergic to plague bearers. If religions were truly gone then plague was gone too, perhaps he could be persuaded to stumble around with his sword once again, or even become a barbarian. He could defend the city in Akkarrin's stead...... Maybe
